Cooks Training Programme
Empowering women to earn a decent income in the food service sector
About the programme
We launched this new programme in November 2020 to support women in low-income households in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Our implementation partner in India is SAATH Charitable Trust.
The first phase of the programme was a pilot involving 20 participants.
Our aim is to empower slum residents who are working in the service sector to become more than mere ‘housemaids’. Our training programme covers all aspects of hygienic food preparation, quality home cooking and food delivery service, enabling our trainees to become highly employable professionals and command a decent salary.
The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in an increased demand for trustworthy and well-trained home-cooks and also for food delivery services to the home. Our training programme taps into this new market and will offer viable employment opportunities to our graduates.
