Olly’s reflections on Nirdhan’s Annual Day Celebration

24th August 2017

To the team at Nirdhan…..

I am sitting at Kolkata airport reflecting on yesterday’s event and feeling incredibly proud of where we have come in the last ten years and six with reference to Nirdhan in particular.   As I looked around the room I was delighted to see so many people there interested in hearing what we had to say and offering their services to help.  But what touched me most of all was seeing the photos of our farmers displayed around the room and to actually have some of them there show-casing their products and telling their stories.  I was choked when I saw Sabera standing next to her photo and I remember that first visit to her house with Chandrani where she stood speaking from behind a closed door, sari over her face.  But yesterday, she stood speaking to the press about how her life has significantly changed due to our service.  Amazing really.
I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication which has resulted in the creation of something really very special.  I felt it yesterday.  And I think this was the turning point of generating interest and funds in Kolkata itself.  We got our timing right too as we had so much to say yesterday.   I am so glad I came – just seeing our supervisors and field staff in Kolkata and Sabera and Kalyani at the press review would have been enough……… carpe diem!   Thank you all for your hard work in putting together such a special and memorable occasion.

  • Agri-management Services has the capacity to deliver lasting change for our farmers. I have always felt that the farmers feed our nation while they can hardly afford to feed themselves. What an irony. So if my team and I are able to help farmers earn a sustainable income through agriculture, there’s nothing better than this.
