Funding
Shivia aims to raise funds from those who share our vision of making a lasting a socio-economic impact. To date, we have been entirely reliant on donors but going forwards we plan to partially fund our own operations through our social enterprise.
Shivia relies on four types of donors:
- Individuals. If you want to run a marathon, organise an event or give any amount of money, however small, it all adds up and makes a huge difference to those we are trying to help. Remember, a life-changing loan is only £120 and a poultry toolkit is only £7!
- High net worth individuals. If you want to get engaged with making a large difference on the ground and helping whole communities, we can help you do so through either our local partners or through our own operations.
- Trusts. If you want to work with trusted partners and/or through Shivia’s dedicated team, we can ensure you are making a real difference to those you wish to work with.
- Corporates. If you want us to connect you to truly grassroots projects and put in place an effective CSR strategy – a gift that keeps on giving – we will help you do this. We would also welcome you to think about backing our Social Enterprise so that our own operations can become self-financing.
We are particularly grateful to the Apax Foundation, who partnered with Shivia Microfinance in January 2010 to support our operational work in West Bengal.
