Charu is the data and analytics lead at an early stage insure-tech start-up, focused on developing data-based parametric insurance tools. She was previously a Senior Data Scientist at the Bank of England, where she led a team building analytical tools to develop and evaluate regulatory rules governing banks and insurers more efficiently. She also led the directorate’s data strategy. Prior to this, she was a technical expert in large exposures policy at the Bank of England as well as a macro-economic researcher focused on international flows on finance amongst developed and developing countries at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. She has an MA in International and Development Economics from Yale University and a BSc in Economics from Warwick University. Born in India, she grew up in Singapore and speaks Tamil, Malayalam and Spanish.
